The Taliban's Ministry of Industry and Commerce has announced that at least 75% of Afghanistan's domestic products were sold at a recent four-day exhibition in Uzbekistan.
According to Tarz Press, Nuruddin Azizi, the acting Minister of Industry and Commerce, stated on Saturday, July 6, that discussions with Uzbek officials focused on preferential trade agreements and facilitating 17 sectors between Kabul and Tashkent. Azizi also mentioned the signing of agreements worth $100 million between Afghan and Uzbek traders.
"This time, contracts worth more than $100 million have been signed, and the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan has committed to using Afghanistan's travertine and marble," Azizi said. The Afghan Minister of Industry and Commerce also discussed investment opportunities with Uzbek officials in the iron, oil, and agricultural sectors. He added, "The rail line project, which runs through Mazar-i-Sharif, Herat, and Kandahar, was our greatest achievement, and we reached an agreement. We are hopeful that this project will start soon, God willing." Meanwhile, at the four-day exhibition in Uzbekistan, 250 Afghan traders and industrialists showcased their domestic products in Tashkent.
