The United Nations Security Council has issued a joint statement urging the Taliban to immediately repeal the propagating virtue and preventing vice law and all other laws that impose restrictions on women.

Tarz Press - Twelve members of the UN Security Council released this statement on Friday, September 6, stating that the Taliban must respect the voices of women and not deprive them of the right to education and learning. The statement emphasized that respecting women's rights and freedoms is a prerequisite for a stable, peaceful, and prosperous Afghanistan. According to the statement, a copy of which has been shared with Tarz Press, the UN Security Council calls on all countries and organizations to use their influence, in accordance with the UN Charter, to promote the immediate reversal of these policies and practices.

The statement also warned that the Taliban's harsh measures against women are making global engagement with the group more difficult and undermining efforts in this regard. The twelve members of the UN Security Council reiterated their commitment to urgently addressing the issues and ensuring the freedom of Afghan women.
