The Taliban's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the Kyrgyz government has removed the group's name from its list of "terrorist organizations," a move they say reflects the need for regional and global engagement with the "Taliban."
Tarz Press – Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the Taliban's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, posted on X on Thursday, September 5, stating, The removal of the Taliban's name from the list of banned groups is a commendable step. The spokesperson added that this decision clearly "signifies a growing political recognition of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan on both regional and international levels.” He further mentioned that this action would remove obstacles for other countries in interacting with the Taliban.
Despite this development, Kyrgyzstan, like many other nations, has not yet recognized the Taliban officially. However, over the past three years, Kyrgyzstan has made efforts to establish close diplomatic and trade relations with the Taliban, similar to other neighboring countries.
