Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that Iran, by providing military support to the Palestinian group Hamas, has transformed Gaza into a significant center of threat against Israel.
Tarz Press: Benjamin Netanyahu made these remarks on Wednesday, September 4, during a press conference in Jerusalem, emphasizing, "Israel's control over Gaza's land and sea borders prevents the smuggling of weapons." The Israeli Prime Minister also mentioned that without stopping the smuggling of military equipment and Iran's military support, the release of Israeli hostages would not be possible. Referring to the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the strategic Philadelphi Corridor in 2005, he added, "After that, Iran, through sustained military support, turned the Gaza Strip into a hub of threat against Israel." Netanyahu further asserted, "We will keep the Philadelphi Corridor under control to prevent the smuggling of weapons into Gaza."
