Berlin has clarified that deporting Afghan citizens to Kabul does not signify a step towards normalizing relations with the Taliban and that this action has been coordinated with the Qatari government.
Tarz Press: Germany, on Friday, August 30, deported 28 Afghan nationals from its territory. According to German media, most of those deported were accused of serious criminal offenses, including sexual assault and armed robbery. This is the first time since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan in August 2021 that Germany has resumed deporting migrants accused of crimes.
The German Foreign Ministry has now stated that the deportation of these Afghan citizens to Kabul definitely does not imply any steps toward normalizing relations with the Taliban. Germany, along with other European countries, does not have diplomatic relations with the Taliban and has not recognized their government.
