The European Union's representative, in a meeting with Taliban officials, stated that the EU is working to implement the commitments made during the Third Doha Meeting.
Tarz Press: The official page of the Presidential Palace, under Taliban control, reported on August 20 that the Taliban's Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs held a farewell meeting with Raffaella Iodice, the EU Chargé d'Affaires in Kabul. According to the report, Abdul Kabir emphasized that the Taliban's stance is based on "engagement, mutual respect, and cooperation."
The page also quoted the EU representative, stating that the union is striving to fulfill the commitments made during the Third Doha Meeting. The agenda of the third Doha meeting focused on establishing a platform for dialogue and engagement with the Taliban, as well as securing international economic support for Afghanistan.
While European countries do not officially recognize the Taliban, they have maintained efforts to engage with the group over the past three years. Recently, the German Foreign Minister, in response to the third anniversary of the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan, remarked that the chance for integration with the international community is unlikely unless the Taliban fulfill their international obligations.
