The Taliban have enforced the Propagating Virtue and Preventing Vice law, which mandates full-body and face covering for women, citing the "fear of temptation" as the reason.
Tarz Press: In a statement released by the Taliban's Ministry of Justice, it is announced that this law, consisting of a preamble, 4 chapters, and 35 articles, has been enacted and published in the official gazette following its approval by Mullah Hibatullah, the Taliban leader. According to the statement, the Ministry of Propagating Virtue and Preventing Vice is tasked with promoting "peace and brotherhood among people and preventing ethnic, linguistic, and regional discrimination" in accordance with Islamic Sharia and Hanafi jurisprudence.
The statement adds that part of this law outlines the rules regarding hijab, making it mandatory for women to cover their entire bodies and faces due to the "fear of temptation." Additionally, the law specifies guidelines for men regarding covering their private parts according to "Sharia," and enforcers are tasked with ensuring adherence to these rules for both men and women.
