Tehran states that solidifying the ceasefire in Gaza and seeking revenge against Israel are entirely separate matters, and the country has not retreated from its stance on retaliatory action against Israel.

Tarz Press—Nasser Kanaani, spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, made these remarks on Monday, August 19, during a media briefing in Tehran, emphasizing that retaliation against Israel is Iran's legitimate right. The Iranian news agency ISNA quoted Kanaani: "As the Islamic Republic of Iran, we affirm our legal and legitimate right to punish the aggressor, and we will exercise that right at the appropriate time."

Previously, reports suggested that Tehran might refrain from attacking Tel Aviv in exchange for securing a ceasefire in Gaza. However, the statements from Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson contradict these claims. Meanwhile, the United States has consistently warned of the consequences of escalating tensions in the region, stressing that Iran would bear the brunt of such actions.
