The Taliban, in commemorating the 105th anniversary of Afghanistan's independence under the leadership of King Amanullah Khan, reiterated their commitment to preserving the nation's freedom.
Tarz Press: Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Taliban's Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, stated at a ceremony marking the occasion that maintaining freedom is as crucial as attaining it: "Just as achieving freedom is important, so too is its preservation."
These remarks by Mullah Baradar come just four days after the Taliban celebrated the third anniversary of their takeover of Afghanistan on August 24, which they also referred to as a day of liberation. The Taliban asserted that this freedom was achieved by defeating NATO, led by the United States. However, these statements are made against the backdrop of Afghanistan's airspace being subject to influence by major global powers, including Pakistan. There have been numerous reports of drones violating Afghan airspace, and several incidents have been reported where Pakistani fighter jets targeted areas in the Kunar province and other regions of Afghanistan.
In a recent interview, Mullah Yaqoob Mujahid, the Taliban's Defense Minister, acknowledged the ongoing violations of Afghanistan's airspace by drones and stated that it is still unclear when they will be able to stop these incursions.
