While American media reported a day earlier, citing U.S. officials, that Iran has refrained from retaliatory attacks on Israel and supports a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, the Pentagon now states that it is still closely monitoring Iran's activities due to potential attacks on Israel.
Tarz Press – U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin made these remarks during a conversation with his Israeli counterpart, Yoav Gallant, on Friday. In a statement, the Pentagon said that Austin and Gallant discussed the political instability in the region and the risk of escalating tensions posed by Iran and its proxy groups across the Middle East. According to the Pentagon's statement, Lloyd Austin emphasized that the United States is closely monitoring any movements or potential plots by Iran and its affiliated groups to attack Israel. Austin also assured Gallant of the readiness of U.S. forces in the region to prevent any escalation of tensions. The statement added that the U.S. and Israeli defense ministers also discussed recent progress toward establishing a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of all hostages, including eight Americans.
