The Taliban's Defense Minister, amid rising political tensions between Islamabad and Kabul, visited a newly established security outpost along the Durand Line.
Tarz Press – The Taliban’s Ministry of Defense announced in a statement that Mawlawi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, the acting Defense Minister, inspected the newly established security outpost in the Dangam district of Kunar, located along the disputed Durand Line. The ministry stated that during this visit, the Defense Minister provided essential guidance to security personnel on defending Afghanistan's borders and territorial integrity. He also assured the creation of additional security outposts and the provision of necessary resources and logistics.
This visit comes at a time when several rockets, reportedly fired by Pakistani forces, have struck areas along the Durand Line, causing civilian casualties, including women and children. Additionally, relations between Kabul and Islamabad remain fragile, with a recent military clash occurring about a week ago between Pakistani forces and Taliban fighters at the Torkham border crossing. The clash reportedly stemmed from Pakistani forces’ objections to the establishment of a security post on the Afghan side of the Durand Line.
