Three years ago, on August 15, the fragile foundations of the Republic crumbled, and the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan. Three days ago, to mark this anniversary, the Taliban showcased their strength with special programs, military parades, exhibitions, and city patrols, accompanied by special a cappella songs, in Kabul and 33 other provinces.
Tarz Press – The Taliban government held a military parade at the Bagram airbase to celebrate this day, and the Ministry of National Defense displayed various light and heavy American and Russian military equipment at the ministry’s headquarters. Some military personnel participated in the parade on motorcycles, displaying yellow explosive barrels.
Reports also indicate that students from public and private schools in Kabul and other provinces were forced to participate in these ceremonies. During the event, the Taliban claimed that their military forces had conducted targeted and deadly operations using motorcycles and explosive barrels, leading to the events of "August 15."
Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban's Minister of Interior, and Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban's Foreign Minister, expressed their desire for good diplomatic relations with the world and called on the international community to engage with the Taliban.
However, three days have passed since these declarations and displays of power, and the international community has yet to react to the possibility of recognizing the Taliban. While the Taliban might be eagerly awaiting positive news from the global community, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock announced on Thursday that as long as the Taliban do not adhere to international commitments, joining the global community will remain impossible.
This is the first statement from a high-ranking foreign official that carries serious messages for the Taliban. The Taliban are compelled to make significant sacrifices, including respecting the will and demands of the Afghan people, in order to achieve international recognition.
