Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban's Minister of Interior, has called on the international community to engage with the Taliban, stating that now, more than ever, is the right time to interact with them.
Tarz Press – Haqqani made these remarks on Wednesday, August 14, during a ceremony marking the third anniversary of the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan, describing the day as historic and the end of the "occupation." Although he did not provide specific details on how the world should engage with the Taliban, he implied that their government should be officially recognized by the international community.
Meanwhile, Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, the Taliban's Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs, also spoke at the event, which was held at Bagram Airfield to commemorate the third anniversary of the Taliban's return to power. He claimed that the Taliban have managed to maintain good relations with the global community and asserted that they have ended the five decades of war in Afghanistan, bringing prosperity and security to the country.
In addition, Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, the Taliban's Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, stated at the ceremony that they have eradicated racial prejudice and ethnic, linguistic, and regional discrimination. Hanafi believes that the amnesty decree has fostered "brotherhood" among the people of Afghanistan.
Today marks the third anniversary of the Taliban's rule, but their government still lacks international recognition. It is worth noting that the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan on August 15, 2021, following a peace agreement with the United States in Doha. This marked the end of the republic established under the Bonn Agreement in 2001.
