Mohammad Hassan Akhund, the Taliban's Prime Minister, has stated in a message celebrating the third anniversary of the group's return to power in Afghanistan that it is now their responsibility to address the damages caused by past wars.

Tarz Press – In a statement released on Tuesday, August 13, Akhund emphasized that the Taliban's responsibilities did not end with the conclusion of their "jihad." He added, "Now, it is our duty to strengthen the Islamic system, rebuild the country, protect the lives, property, and dignity of the people, and make amends for the damages of past wars. We must approach these responsibilities with complete sincerity and seriousness."
In his message, Akhund described August 15 as a day of pride, stating that it should be used as an opportunity to promote the welfare, peace, and stability of the Afghan people.

The Taliban regained control of Afghanistan on August 15, 2021, following a peace agreement with the United States in Doha. On that day, former Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and his close team fled the country, marking the end of the republic established under the Bonn Agreement in 2001 and the return of the Taliban to power based on the Doha agreement.
