UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, in a phone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, warned of the dangers of miscalculations by Tehran in regional developments, stating that war benefits no one.
Tarz Press – The British Prime Minister's office issued a statement saying that the phone call took place on Monday, although it did not specify who initiated the contact. The office quoted Prime Minister Starmer as saying, "There was a serious risk of miscalculation and now was the time for calm and careful consideration."
According to the statement, Starmer urged Pezeshkian to avoid escalating tensions in the region, emphasizing that increasing conflict would benefit no country and would come at a significant cost. This comes a day after Berlin, Paris, and London issued a joint statement calling on Tehran to avoid escalating tensions in the Middle East. The statement stressed that regional tension is in no one's interest and that all parties should exercise restraint.
The Iranian government, however, has consistently emphasized a retaliatory strike against Israel, with officials stating that Israel only understands the "language of force." Meanwhile, the United States recently announced that Tehran might launch an attack on Israel later this week. The White House has called on European countries to clarify their roles in responding to any potential Iranian attack.
