The Taliban have announced that an explosion in the Dasht-e-Barchi area of Kabul has resulted in one death and 11 injuries.
Khalid Zadran, spokesperson for the Taliban's police headquarters in Kabul, stated in a press release that the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) placed in a Mercedes passenger vehicle in Dasht-e-Barchi. He confirmed that one person was killed and 11 others were injured in the blast.
According to the spokesperson, Taliban forces have arrived at the scene and have begun investigations. The incident occurred this afternoon, Sunday, August 11, near a government fuel station in Dasht-e-Barchi, within the 13th security district. The Taliban reported that the victims were civilians.
So far, no individual or group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the terrorist group ISIS has previously claimed responsibility for similar attacks in Afghanistan.
