General Asim Munir, a senior commander of the Pakistani army, has urged the Afghan Taliban not to jeopardize their longstanding friendship with Pakistan over the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Tarz Press – General Asim Munir made these remarks on Thursday, August 8, during a meeting of religious scholars in Islamabad. He emphasized that the Taliban should consider the 40-year-long friendship between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

In this meeting, he referred to the TTP as "Khawarij" and stressed that Pakistan will firmly stand against groups that threaten its interests. The senior Pakistani commander urged the Afghan Taliban not to collaborate with the TTP, as he claimed the TTP has hideouts in Afghanistan and organizes its attacks on Pakistan from Afghan soil. General Munir's request to the Taliban comes amid a recent increase in deadly TTP attacks in Pakistan, which Pakistani security forces have been unable to stop.

The Taliban government has not yet responded to General Asim Munir's remarks but has previously stated that neighboring countries should ensure their own security and not blame Afghanistan for their security failures.
