Residents of Helmand province have told Tarz Press that since yesterday, drones have been actively flying over Helmand province.

According to Tarz Press, it is still unclear what the purpose of these drone flights over Helmand is. The Taliban have yet to respond to this news, but about two weeks ago, Mullah Yaqoob, the Taliban's Minister of Defense, warned in a meeting in Kabul that if the repeated use of Afghanistan's airspace continues, they can also ensure the security of Afghanistan's airspace. Drone flights over Afghanistan are not new, and since the Taliban regime's victory on August 15, 2021, there have been continuous reports of targeted drone movements in Afghanistan's skies. Ayman al-Zawahiri, the second-in-command of Al-Qaeda, was also tracked and killed by drones in the heart of Kabul. So far, the Taliban have only been able to issue media warnings on this matter. Abdul Kabir, the Taliban's Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs, previously stated that due to a lack of necessary equipment, the Taliban cannot prevent drone flights over Afghanistan.
