Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban and close associate of Mullah Hibatullah, reported a recent meeting between the Taliban leader and local and military officials from Ghor province. During this meeting, the officials shared their concerns and issues with Mullah Hibatullah.
In a Twitter post, Zabihullah Mujahid stated that Mullah Hibatullah provided crucial advice to the Ghor officials, urging them to "avoid disputes and fully obey their leader." While Mujahid did not disclose the exact timing of this meeting, he shared the news late on Sunday. No additional details or photographs of the meeting have been released.
Mullah Hibatullah’s call for obedience comes amid reports of significant divisions within the Taliban ranks. These internal conflicts have recently become public, raising concerns among Taliban officials. A few days ago, Mullah Yaqoob, the acting Minister of Defense, asserted in a Kabul meeting that he and his forces strictly follow their leader's orders, rejecting any other directives. In the same meeting, Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Minister of Interior and a key figure in the Taliban, affirmed his adherence to Mullah Hibatullah's commands.
Mullah Hibatullah’s extreme beliefs have made him an unacceptable figure to global partners, which likely contributes to the lack of official recognition for his government.
