Former U.S. President and prominent Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump stated that he promised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to end the Ukraine war if he wins the upcoming election.
According to Tarz Press, AFP reported that Trump made this promise in a phone conversation with Zelensky. "I promised President Zelensky that if I win, I will end the war in Ukraine," Trump said. Zelensky confirmed the call and asked Trump to share his plan to end the war, emphasizing the importance of respecting Ukraine's sovereignty. "Any proposal must avoid violating Ukraine's sovereignty," Zelensky had previously warned. "We agreed with President Trump to discuss at a personal meeting what steps can make peace fair and truly lasting," he wrote on X (formerly twitter). Russian President Vladimir Putin acknowledged Trump's comments but stated he lacks details about Trump's proposal. Trump's remarks follow his criticism of the Biden administration's financial aid to Ukraine, asserting that Kyiv would not win the war.
