Tehran late Wednesday strongly denied any involvement in an alleged plot to assassinate Donald Trump, calling the accusations "baseless and biased." According to Tarz Press, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani stated, "The Islamic Republic denies any involvement in the alleged plot to assassinate Trump. This is a baseless and biased accusation."
CNN had earlier reported that the U.S. obtained intelligence suggesting Tehran's involvement in a plot against Trump. However, a U.S. official told CNN there was no evidence linking the shooter to Iran. Another U.S. official told Reuters that Iran has always sought revenge for Trump's order to kill Qassem Soleimani.
