Amid rising concerns over the security crisis in Pakistan, Islamabad has decided to send a high-level delegation to Kabul, led by the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan.
According to Tarz Press, Ishaq Dar, Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister, emphasized at a meeting of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee on Tuesday, July 19, that Pakistan's main security problem is linked to Afghanistan under Taliban administration. While he did not specify the exact timing of the visit, he stressed the necessity of traveling to Afghanistan with the Foreign Minister to discuss security issues.
Geo News, a Pakistani media outlet, quoted Ishaq Dar as saying: "We had and will have very close relations with Afghanistan; you cannot change your neighbors." In response to a question about the targeting of Chinese nationals in Pakistan, he stated that such attacks are organized to create a rift between Islamabad and Beijing. Mr. Dar added, "Unfortunately, evidence from these incidents indicates the involvement of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and equipment that exists in Afghanistan."
In recent weeks, relations between Kabul and Islamabad have significantly deteriorated. Not long ago, Khawaja Asif, Pakistan's Defense Minister, accused the Taliban of supporting TTP militants in Afghanistan. In response, the Taliban's Defense Minister stated that Pakistan's leadership should not allow anyone to comment on sensitive issues. Pakistan consistently accuses the Taliban of supporting the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) and providing them with military equipment and using Afghan soil. These claims have always been denied by the Taliban. The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was formed in Pakistan in 2007 and, along with several other militant groups, agreed on a joint struggle against the Pakistani government. This group gained high morale and motivation with the Taliban's rise to power in Afghanistan in August 2021 and has since become a serious threat to Pakistan's security.
