Documents obtained by Tarz Press reveal that ‘active female employees,’ like their male counterparts, who attend their duties daily, receive all their rights and benefits.
According to Tarz Press, these documents indicate that the Taliban's Ministry of Finance has confirmed that female employees ‘who do not attend their duties’ will have their monthly salary set at 5,000 Afghanis ($70). In a letter dated July 7, the Ministry of Finance outlined the payment of salaries and benefits, stating that female employees who are ‘on duty but do not attend their duties daily’ will receive a fixed salary of 5,000 Afghanis ($70).
The letter states: "Those female employees who are on duty but do not attend their duties daily like their male counterparts or do not perform the tasks outlined in their job descriptions will have all their salaries and benefits paid at only 5,000 Afghanis ($70)."
Based on this letter, the Ministry of Finance confirms that ‘active female employees’ who attend their duties daily like their male counterparts will receive their full salaries and benefits. It also mentions that any discrepancies in previously paid salaries and benefits should be corrected in the following months.
The document further states: "Those active female employees within the organizational structure who attend their duties daily like their male counterparts or practically perform the tasks outlined in their job descriptions will have their full salaries and benefits paid."
Previously, the Taliban's Ministry of Education had suspended the payment of female teachers' salaries until further notice. In a letter from this ministry, it was mentioned that until the order to reduce female employees' salaries to 5,000 Afghanis ($70) is clarified, the payment of female teachers' salaries is suspended. This letter, signed by Habibullah Agha, the acting Minister of Education, cited a problem in the salary payment system for teachers as the reason for this suspension.
Furthermore, it was stated that the Taliban leader had issued an order instructing that female employees' salaries should not exceed 5,000 Afghanis ($70). In this decree by Mawlawi Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban leader, which was leaked to the media, it was stated that all female employees in government departments hired by the previous government should be paid a uniform salary of 5,000 Afghanis ($70). The Taliban's Administrative Office had informed government institutions: "Those female employees who were hired by the previous government and are still receiving their salaries from the Islamic Emirate should have all their salaries set at 5,000 Afghanis ($70) in both budgetary and non-budgetary units."
The Taliban leader's decree did not clarify whether the 5,000 Afghani ($70) salary applies to all female employees or only to those who have been housebound but are still receiving their salaries from Taliban authorities.
However, in this letter from the Taliban's Ministry of Finance, it is clarified that the salaries of all ‘absentee female employees’ will be reduced to 5,000 Afghanis ($70), and women who attend their duties daily are entitled to receive full salaries and benefits.
