Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, has described the newly planned military operation "Azm-e-Istehkam" as crucial for Pakistan's stability, emphasizing that the country is always prepared to counter both external and internal threats.
According to a Tarz Press report, General Asim made these remarks recently during a meeting with senior Pakistani military leaders. A press release issued by the Pakistan Army stated that the situation in Afghanistan was also discussed during this meeting.
The press release noted, "The army considers this operation a timely necessity as an essential step to counter terrorism and illegal activities in Pakistan." The meeting also addressed the issue of terrorist propaganda against Pakistani institutions, describing it as a conspiracy facilitated by foreign forces.
The Pakistan Army's public relations wing, ISPR, stated, "The aim of this ongoing online terrorism, facilitated by foreign forces, is to spread despair among the public through fake news and negative propaganda." General Asim Munir assured the meeting that the Pakistan Army is always ready to thwart internal and external conspiracies, and Operation Azm-e-Istehkam is being launched to ensure stability in Pakistan.
While the press release did not provide specific details about Afghanistan, Pakistani officials have consistently claimed that the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) coordinates attacks in Pakistan from Afghan territory. Taliban officials, however, have denied these allegations, stating that Pakistan has failed to maintain its own security and is now blaming Afghanistan for its shortcomings.
