Peshawar Blast: Controversial Cleric Mufti Munir Shakir Injured

A bomb explosion rocked the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today, Saturday, March 15, injuring Mufti Munir Shakir, a prominent and polarizing Pakistani cleric, along with four others. The blast went off as Shakir was heading to a mosque, triggered by a makeshift bomb planted near his route, according to local sources.  
Witnesses said the explosion sparked panic among passersby, prompting a swift response from security forces. Shakir, a well-known figure in Pakistan, has long courted controversy with his fiery rhetoric and extremist views, frequently landing in the media spotlight.  
His outspoken stances against the government and rival religious groups have stirred tensions in the past, even sparking local clashes. Shakir’s sharp criticism of some Taliban policies in Afghanistan has also earned him significant prominence
