Washington – Mike Waltz, U.S. National Security Advisor, announced that President Donald Trump, since taking office on January 20, has ordered the elimination of 23 radical Islamic jihadists.

Waltz provided no further details about the identities of these individuals or their affiliated groups, leaving it unclear which organizations or specific jihadist leaders are targeted. Speculation suggests these 23 could include prominent figures or members of groups like Al-Qaeda, Daesh (ISIS), Islamist factions backed by the Islamic Republic of Iran, or even Taliban leaders due to their hardline policies in Afghanistan. Historically, the U.S. has conducted targeted operations against Al-Qaeda and Daesh leaders.

Notable figures previously targeted by the U.S. include Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the Daesh leader, and Ayman al-Zawahiri, Al-Qaeda’s head, who was killed in Kabul during Taliban rule. These statements come amid direct warnings from Trump and U.S. officials to the Taliban.
