While informed sources confirmed to Tarz Press that Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban’s Interior Minister, has not yet returned to Kabul from Dubai, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told Afghan media that Haqqani is back in Kabul and currently “resting.”

Two reliable sources in Afghanistan told Tarz Press that Haqqani, a prominent Taliban figure, remains in Dubai, and reports of his return to Afghanistan are untrue. The sources further revealed that Haqqani has not reported his activities or meetings in the United Arab Emirates to either Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban leader, or the office of the Taliban’s prime minister.

According to the sources, Haqqani’s prolonged absence and failure to comply with Mullah Hibatullah’s directives have deepened tensions between the two, reaching an unprecedented peak. They claim Haqqani is dissatisfied with Hibatullah’s unilateral decisions and the restrictions imposed on women and girls.

Previously, Zabihullah Mujahid acknowledged disagreements among senior Taliban members but expressed confidence that these disputes would not escalate into full-scale conflict within the group.

Haqqani’s trip to the UAE was approved by the United Nations for the Umrah pilgrimage, with the UN temporarily lifting his travel restrictions for ten days.
