Pat Harrigan, a Republican member of the U.S. Congress, stated that America’s return to Afghanistan is inevitable. Criticizing the sudden and failed withdrawal of the United States from Afghanistan, he described the country as a serious threat to U.S. national security.
Harrigan made these remarks on Sunday during interviews with several American media outlets, emphasizing that the hasty exit from Afghanistan not only condemns future generations to further conflicts but also reflects structural weaknesses within the United States.
Harrigan, a former senior commander of U.S. Special Forces with military missions in Afghanistan, also asserted that if Trump were in the White House, Afghanistan would not have reverted to a hub for global terrorism. He added that global crises like Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and Hamas’ attacks on Israel would not have occurred under Trump’s leadership.
The Congressman emphasized that within the framework of Congressional powers, he would exert all efforts to manage global situations and prevent future conflicts worldwide.
