U.S. President Joe Biden, in a statement, addressed the situation of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its alliance with Russia. Referring to the Hamas attack on October 7, he said: “Look at Iran; did you ever think the Islamic Republic would end up in this state?”
Biden also highlighted the failure of the Islamic Republic and Russia to maintain Bashar al-Assad, their close ally, in power, stating: “Assad was the closest ally of the Islamic Republic and Russia, yet they couldn’t keep him in power.”
He further emphasized that the growing closeness among "authoritarian states" is a sign of their weakness and failure.
