Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban’s Interior Minister, has strongly condemned Pakistan’s recent actions, describing them as a violation of all international norms. He stated that Pakistan decided to attack Afghanistan despite the Taliban’s continuous efforts since 2021 to ensure that Afghan soil is not used against any other country.
Haqqani remarked, “Based on the Doha Agreement, we assured the international community that our soil would not be used against anyone. Unfortunately, our efforts have not been respected.” He called on Pakistan to address its internal problems and emphasized that the ongoing crises in Pakistan are domestic issues unrelated to Afghanistan. “Pakistan must look within; its crises are internal matters,” he said.
While acknowledging Pakistan’s “past goodwill,” Haqqani stressed that Islamabad’s recent decision to launch airstrikes in Paktika has profoundly impacted Afghan perceptions and erased the positive relations built over forty years.
Pakistan has consistently accused the Taliban of allowing Afghan territory to be used for attacks against Pakistan. The Taliban have repeatedly denied these allegations, asserting since 2021 that Afghanistan’s soil will not be used against any country.
