Antony Blinken, the U.S. Secretary of State, stated that the intensity of attacks and significant advances by armed opposition groups against Bashar al-Assad in Syria indicate that Russia and Iran are deeply concerned.

During his recent visit to Europe, on the sidelines of the NATO summit, Blinken remarked that one of the key reasons behind the uprising in Syria is Assad’s authoritarianism and the absence of a clear framework for meaningful political participation for all political factions.

Meanwhile, armed opposition groups, including Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, have announced that they have penetrated the city of Hama and claim to have captured large portions of it.

On the other hand, Syrian state media, citing military sources, reported that the Syrian Air Force carried out multiple airstrikes in various areas of Hama to halt the advance of opposition forces. Government sources also emphasized that all areas surrounding the city of Hama continue to resist.
