Amid heightened political tensions between Kabul and Islamabad, China’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Yue Xiaoyong, has shared details of his recent visit to Pakistan with the Taliban. However, the Taliban’s official statement has not disclosed specific information regarding the discussions.

The official page of the Taliban administration announced on Saturday, November 23, that Yue Xiaoyong met with Abdul Kabir, the Taliban’s Acting Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs. The meeting emphasized improving relations and fostering understanding between Afghanistan, Pakistan, and China.

According to the statement, Abdul Kabir assured Afghanistan’s neighbors and the international community that Afghanistan’s soil would not be used as a threat against any country. He added, “The Taliban have proven this commitment in practice over the past three years.” He also underscored the need for regional cooperation to establish peace and stability.

These efforts come amid escalating political tensions between Kabul and Islamabad. China’s initiative to mediate reflects its broader strategy to expand its economic and political influence in the region, leveraging its ties with both Pakistan and the Taliban.
