Tarz Press: In response to the increasing insecurity in Pakistan, the Taliban have stated that they never wish for war in the neighboring country. Instead, they claim to pursue a policy focused on economic cooperation and aim to bring the entire region closer together.
Sardar Ahmad Shaqib, the Taliban’s ambassador to Pakistan, made these remarks during his speech at the Institute of Regional Studies in Islamabad today, Tuesday, November 8. In a statement released by the Taliban embassy in Pakistan, it was mentioned that “insecurity in Pakistan negatively affects Afghanistan and the entire region, and Afghanistan never wants war in the neighboring country.”
The statement, quoting Ambassador Shaqib, added: “The economic and trade relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan should not be tied to security issues; such an approach would benefit everyone.”
In the meeting, Shaqib expressed concern, stating: “The repeated closure of borders, sudden tariff increases, unnecessary inspections of cargo trucks, issues with issuing Pakistani visas, and related actions from the Pakistani side are negatively impacting these relations.”
The statement also warned that these actions harm not only the “two governments” but also the people living on both sides of the Durand Line.
While the Taliban claim to support peace in Pakistan, Islamabad accuses them of backing the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), alleging that the TTP’s attacks on Pakistani soil are planned and organized with the support of the Afghan Taliban. However, the Afghan Taliban have consistently denied these claims.
