Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, has announced that a “vicious insurgent group” directed by Daesh Khorasan from Pakistan’s Balochistan has been eliminated in Ghor province.
On Sunday night, October 20, Mujahid posted on his X account that this group carried out all its attacks in Afghanistan under the direct command of Daesh Khorasan from Balochistan. He added, “This is the same group that, last month on the 9th, attacked Shia citizens in the center of Ghor province, martyring over 20 of our compatriots.”
In his statement, Mujahid also mentioned that the group was involved in other attacks in Ghor, Kabul, and Bamyan. He stated that “several individuals have been arrested and have confessed to their crimes.” He further added, “Today, Sunday, an operation was carried out on their hideout in the Markoi area of Ghor’s center, resulting in the killing of the group’s leader and another key member. Weapons, ammunition, hand grenades, and explosives were recovered from them. Unfortunately, this group was directly guided by Daesh centers in Balochistan.”
Reports of Daesh-organized terrorist attacks from Pakistani soil come at a time when, on the other hand, the Pakistani government accuses the Taliban of using Afghan territory against Pakistan, claiming that Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) launches its attacks from Afghanistan. These accusations, however, have always been denied by the Afghan Taliban.
