Tarz Press: The Taliban have stated that they are closely monitoring the situation in Pakistan and hope that the Pakistani government will handle the increasing discontent in a logical manner.
Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed concern about the recent developments in Pakistan and suggested that the best way to respond to the “legitimate demands of the people” is through negotiation and understanding.
In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account today, Sunday, October 6, Balkhi wrote that they “hope that the Pakistani government & influential institutions will deal reasonably and pragmatically with the growing discontent.” The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also noted that the tension between the government and supporters of political opposition in Pakistan has reached a worrying level, and the continuation of this situation could have negative repercussions for the entire region.
These comments come as the Pakistani government today placed the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) on the list of banned groups and declared all its activities illegal.
