Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called for increased pressure on Israel to prevent a larger catastrophe in the region, referring to the pager explosions in Lebanon. He urged Western countries and the United Nations to intervene and stop Israel.
Tarz Press: On Saturday, September 21, during the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Erdogan told reporters that the pager explosions in Lebanon reflect Israel’s efforts to escalate tensions in the region. He added, "To prevent widespread tensions in the region, pressure on Israel must be increased."
Erdogan further stated to reporters that the United Nations and Western countries, likely referring to the United States, must take action to stop Israel and prevent this conflict from expanding further in the region.
This comes after explosions from pagers and communication devices in Lebanon have left dozens dead and thousands injured. The attack is attributed to Israel, but Israel has yet to comment on the incident.
