The United Nations has issued a warning about the potential for a dangerous and large-scale war in the Middle East.

Tarz Press: Rosemary DiCarlo, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, stated in a UN Security Council meeting that the Middle East is on the brink of a war that could be so devastating that it would overshadow the current conflicts.

On Friday, September 20, during this meeting focused on the explosions involving pagers and Hezbollah communication devices in Lebanon, DiCarlo expressed her concerns. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights also addressed the council, suggesting that the simultaneous explosions, allegedly orchestrated by Israel, could be considered war crimes.

Meanwhile, Danny Danon, Israel's ambassador to the UN, said that his country would take any necessary measures to protect its people and interests but did not mention the recent pager explosions in Lebanon.

The series of explosions caused by communication devices, referred to as pagers, in Lebanon have reportedly injured thousands and killed dozens, including senior members of Hezbollah.
