Pakistani media have reported that Asif Durrani, Pakistan's Special Representative for Afghanistan, has been removed from his position due to disagreements over Islamabad's policies towards Kabul.
Tarz Press - The Pakistani newspaper Dawn reported on Saturday, September 14, that the Pakistani military was dissatisfied with Asif Durrani's statements regarding Afghanistan and, for this reason, did not heed his views. This Pakistani outlet, quoting a diplomatic source, also said that during his mission in Afghanistan, Durrani was unable to have a positive impact on relations between Islamabad and Kabul.
Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a statement saying that Asif Durrani, Pakistan's Special Representative for Afghanistan, has been dismissed from his post. However, the ministry's statement did not specify the reason for his removal.
