Pakistani officials have sharply criticized former intelligence chief General Faiz Hameed, stating that his warm tea in Kabul had cold consequences for Islamabad and failed to resolve security issues between the two countries.
Tarz Press — These remarks were made by Ishaq Dar, Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, referring to General Faiz Hameed's visit to Kabul three years ago when he was the head of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Three years ago, about a week after the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan, General Faiz Hameed arrived in Kabul. During his visit, photos of him holding a cup of tea with Taliban officials at a well-known hotel in Kabul circulated in the media.
Referring to this visit, Ishaq Dar stated that "drinking a cup of tea" not only failed to resolve Islamabad's security issues but also resulted in significantly colder and negative consequences for the country. Pakistani media reported on Sunday, September 8, that Dar harshly criticized the policies of former Prime Minister Imran Khan regarding the Taliban, claiming that Khan's approach and his team's actions have led to increased insecurity in Pakistan.
Recently, relations between the Taliban and Pakistan have deteriorated unprecedentedly, with armed militants increasing their attacks within Pakistani territory. According to a report by the Associated Press last week, Pakistan is conducting over 100 military operations daily across the country to prevent militant attacks.
Pakistani officials have repeatedly claimed that these attacks are being planned and organized from Afghan soil. However, the Taliban have denied these claims, stating that militants, particularly the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), have known addresses in Pakistan.
