Maulana Fazlur Rehman, leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan, stated that the Taliban intend to change Afghanistan's educational curriculum to improve the negative perception of Pakistan among Afghans.
According to Tarz Press, Rehman made these remarks during an exclusive interview with Radio Mashaal on Monday, July 2. He added that previous Afghan governments promoted negative views about Pakistan. During his last visit to Afghanistan, he discussed significant issues with the Taliban.
Rehman said, "When the Islamic Emirate came, they were pro-Pakistan. Negative perceptions of Pakistan created social problems for the Taliban. They worked on a resolution to change the curriculum, which could bring us closer to Pakistan. The Taliban explained this to me in detail."
These comments come amid reports that new textbooks with revised content are already being distributed and taught in Afghan schools.
