The Iranian Ministry of Interior has announced that at the conclusion of the vote-counting process, Masoud Pezeshkian has been elected as the President of Iran with the highest number of votes.
According to a report by "Taraz Press" and based on the announcement from the Iranian election authority, Masoud Pezeshkian, the candidate supported by reformists, succeeded in securing 16,384,403 votes out of more than 30,530,000 votes cast in the second round of the presidential election in Iran. Ultimately, Mr. Pezeshkian defeated Saeed Jalili (with 13.5 million votes), the candidate supported by conservatives, to become the President-elect of Iran.
According to the Iranian Ministry of Interior, more than 30 million people, equivalent to 49.8% of eligible voters, participated in the second round of the election. In the first round, the participation rate was announced to be 40%, with Masoud Pezeshkian securing 10,415,000 votes (42.45%) and Saeed Jalili obtaining 9,473,000 votes (38.61%), surpassing the other two candidates, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Mostafa Pourmohammadi. However, since neither candidate managed to secure more than 50% of the votes, the election proceeded to the second round.
