Annalena Baerbock, Germany’s Foreign Minister, expressed deep concern over the fate of hostages still held by Hamas in Gaza, particularly the German citizens among them. She emphasized the need to continue efforts to secure their release.

On Tuesday, February 12, Baerbock wrote on her X (formerly Twitter) account that the hostage deal has so far brought over 20 people back to their families, but many remain in captivity, including German nationals. She also described the situation of civilians in Gaza as critical and called for the immediate provision of food, medicine, and reconstruction efforts.

The German Foreign Minister stressed that the ceasefire remains fragile and warned that any actions by Hamas that could endanger this agreement would be irresponsible. She further urged Israel and the United States to pay greater attention to strengthening the ceasefire and ensuring the release of hostages.
