Intense clashes between the Taliban and Pakistani forces in the provinces of Paktia and Khost have reportedly resulted in heavy casualties on both sides. Sources claim that 38 Pakistani soldiers and 5 Taliban members have been killed in the ongoing conflict.

Both sides have used heavy artillery, including mortars, in the clashes, causing significant damage to residential areas on both sides of the Durand Line. Both the Taliban and Pakistani officials have urged residents of villages near the border to evacuate for their safety. Reports indicate that many families from both sides have fled their homes due to the escalating violence.

The clashes occurred last night, with a source telling Tarz Press: “The Taliban used artillery, mortars, and ground attacks from Dand Patan district in Paktia toward the Dabgi area on the Pakistani side, and from Alisher district in Khost toward the Ozgari area in Pakistan, targeting Pakistani military bases.”

According to informed sources, several Pakistani military bases were set ablaze during the fighting, resulting in 38 Pakistani soldiers killed. Additionally, the deaths of five Taliban members have been confirmed. Reports also suggest that the Taliban employed drones during the attacks.

The Taliban’s Ministry of Defense has officially acknowledged targeting specific sites across the Durand Line. It is worth noting that disputes along the Durand Line have long been a source of tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan. However, the recent clashes are being described as more intense than previous incidents.
