Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, has declared that the activities of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) from Afghan soil are unacceptable. He urged the Taliban to adopt a firm policy against the group.

Sharif emphasized that the use of Afghan territory against Pakistani citizens is a “red line” for Islamabad, and Pakistan will take all necessary measures to protect its territorial integrity. According to Pakistan’s Express Tribune, Sharif directly addressed the Taliban, stating, “We do not accept double standards. It is unacceptable to say one thing and act contrary to it.”

The Prime Minister also called on the Taliban to develop a comprehensive strategy to counter the TTP, noting that strong relations between the two countries, particularly in trade and economic cooperation, depend on resolving security threats.

The TTP has long been a source of tension between Kabul and Islamabad. Pakistani officials claim that members of the group have safe havens in Afghanistan, a charge consistently denied by the Afghan Taliban.

In recent airstrikes conducted by Pakistani jets in the Bermal district of Paktika, dozens of people, mostly women and children, lost their lives. The Taliban condemned these attacks and have vowed to respond.

This ongoing conflict highlights the complex and strained relationship between the two neighboring countries, further complicated by mutual accusations and the persistent threat posed by TTP activities.
