Donald Trump, the U.S. President-elect, announced his readiness to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin soon to bring an end to the war in Ukraine.

During a conference in Arizona, Trump stated that Putin had expressed interest in meeting him as soon as possible, describing the opportunity as a chance to end the ongoing conflict. He criticized the war in Ukraine, labeling it as “devastating,” and emphasized that such a war would never have started under his presidency.

Outlining his priorities for his second term, Trump promised that it would mark a “golden era” with immediate and substantial reforms. He assured the public that he would end the war in Ukraine, stabilize the Middle East, and prevent the onset of a third world war, calling these his key commitments to the American people.

Previously, Vladimir Putin had also signaled his willingness to engage in dialogue with Trump. A few days earlier, Putin had expressed interest in negotiations with Washington over Ukraine if the U.S. showed similar intent.

The potential meeting between the two leaders raises questions about the future trajectory of the Ukraine conflict and the role of international diplomacy in resolving it.
