Annalena Baerbock, Germany’s Foreign Minister, has issued a stern warning to all supporters of Bashar al-Assad and his family, urging them to refrain from seeking refuge in Germany. In an interview with the Bild am Sonntag newspaper, Baerbock stated, “To anyone who worked for Assad’s torturers and is thinking of fleeing to Germany, let me make it clear: we will prosecute all aides of the regime with the full force of the law for their horrific crimes.”
She further emphasized the importance of close collaboration between international security and intelligence agencies to achieve this objective. Baerbock’s remarks underscore Germany’s commitment to holding accountable all individuals involved in the atrocities committed by the Assad regime.
