Domestic Reactions
In Afghanistan, former President Hamid Karzai and former Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah condemned the attack as a terrorist act, expressing condolences to Haqqani’s family using the term “martyr.” Their responses reflect the complex political landscape of Afghanistan and the sensitivity surrounding this incident.

Regional Reactions
Countries in the region, including Pakistan, Iran, and Turkey, denounced the attack and labeled it an act of terrorism. Official statements from these nations emphasized shared concerns over escalating instability in Afghanistan and its potential ramifications for regional security.

United Nations’ Response
The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) issued a statement condemning the killing of Haqqani and other victims of the attack. Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani, the Taliban’s Minister of Refugees, was killed in a sophisticated suicide attack at the ministry’s headquarters on Wednesday afternoon. The Islamic State (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
