The Afghan national futsal team triumphed in their opening match of the Futsal World Cup by decisively defeating Angola 6-4 on Sunday evening, September 15, securing three valuable points.
Tarz Press- Afghanistan began the first half with an aggressive and storming approach, and the Lions of Khorasan delivered a powerful blow to the African runners-up. The first half ended 5-2 in favor of Afghanistan, allowing the team to head to the locker room with a comfortable lead.
However, the story didn't end there. In the second half, the Afghan players switched to a defensive stance, pulling back while Angola, with nothing to lose, intensified their attacks on Afghanistan's goal, scoring two more goals to narrow the gap. But in the final seconds, Afghanistan was awarded a penalty, and Reza Hosseinpour converted from the second penalty spot, making it 6-4 and sealing a thrilling victory. This win marks Afghanistan's powerful and commanding start in their first appearance at the Futsal World Cup.
The goals for Afghanistan were scored by Akbar Kazemi twice, and Omid Qanbari, Hossein Mohammadi, Mahdi Nowrozi, and Reza Hosseinpour each netting once against Angola.
Afghanistan is in Group C of the Tashkent Futsal World Cup and is set to face futsal giants Argentina and Ukraine in their next two matches.
