The German Foreign Ministry has announced in a statement that German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock had a phone conversation with her Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, during which tensions in the Middle East were the main topic of discussion.
Tarz Press: The Iranian Foreign Ministry also confirmed this news, stating that both sides emphasized resolving the current issues through dialogue and continued political consultations. The German Foreign Ministry's statement further mentioned that "tensions in the Middle East" and "German citizens imprisoned in Iran" were among the subjects discussed.
In recent times, tensions between Tehran and Berlin have become increasingly evident. About a month ago, Germany closed the Islamic Center Hamburg and its affiliated offices, accusing them of "promoting extremism." On the other hand, Iranian police also raided and shut down the Goethe Institute, a German language teaching center in Tehran. In response, Berlin summoned the Iranian ambassador to seek clarification on the matter.
