The German Federal Government has announced its opposition to any unilateral actions that could undermine the current historic opportunity for a ceasefire in Jerusalem, calling on Israel to halt its "provocative" actions in the city.

Tarz Press – In a statement, the German Foreign Ministry also condemned the visit of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir to the Al-Aqsa Mosque. On Tuesday, Ben-Gvir visited the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem, where he performed prayers and recorded a video emphasizing that Hamas must be defeated. This action has been widely criticized not only as an affront to this holy Muslim site but also for potentially jeopardizing the opportunity to achieve a ceasefire.
Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam, is a symbol of Palestinian national identity. Ben-Gvir's visit comes at a sensitive time as the nearly year-long conflict between Israel and Hamas has reached a critical juncture, with the possibility of a ceasefire on the horizon.
